OPI Bond Girls: Jinx

bond_jinxJinx, played by Halle Berry, works on the same case as Bond, to kill Zao. An expert markswoman, pilot and supremely fit, Jinx makes it clear she is more than Bond’s equal. Using her skills and streetwise ability she manages to kill Miranda Frost at the end of the film.

Not one to be tied down to one man, she comments to Bond that her relationships don’t last. Jinx uses Bond as much for her own devices as Bond uses her… (excerpt from James Bond Multimedia read more)

Jinx is a mesmerizing matte coral has lucky sparkle. My personal favorite in the OPI Bond Girl Collection.
OPI Jinx
Jinx is a gold shimmery coral base with coral red sand particles. Unlike, Solitaire and Tiffany Case, there isn’t any large glitter in Jinx. So it has a very fine sandy finish similar to OPI What is this wizardry? from OPI Oz Collection and also closely resembles Zoya Pixie Dust.
OPI Jinx
The application is easy but seems to be slightly sheer side. I did two coats on most nails and maybe three coats on a few spots. The dry time is fast and not much problem after half hour of last coat.
joyluscious_opi_jinx3
Jinx is a coral with gold shimmer. When wet, it appears more pinkish coral. Once dried completely, it leans more orange and gold. The look is very similar to Zoya Destiny and Julie G Sugar Rush. II will do a comparison post on OPI Jinx, Zoya Destiny, and Julie G Sugar Rush.

OPI Bond Girls: Vesper and Honey Rider

VesperI am a fan of the old Bond movies and Shawn Connery being my favorite James Bond. However, I recalled little of the Bond Girls so I had to do Googling.

Vesper Lynd, played by Eva Green in Casino Royale is one of the most influential Bond girls to date. Played with intelligence and style, the French actress is only one of two Bond girls who James Bond actually falls in love with. (excerpt from whatculture.com to read more)

Vesper described by OPI: A mysterious and intriguing deep purple.

Vesper is a dark purple base with black sand and glitter. The first coat is very watery and it looks like dust stuck on washed out purple nails, yuck! Then, the second coat went on and the color turns in to what you see here. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get this one but I thought, I should keep the set as a whole. I am glad I did because it is a good alternative to black.
OPI Vasper

bondgirl_honeyriderUrsula Andress, in her infamous role as Honey Rider in Dr No. Her notorious walk out of the sea in her iconic white bikini remains one of the most popular scenes in cinema and is regarded as the most classic James Bond moment to date.

As she was the first Bond girl, she became a classic pin-up girl, ruling the imagination of men around the world. Her seductive and beautiful character in the first ever bond, makes her a true screen goddess and a deserved no.1 in the all-time top Bond girls. (except from whatculture.com read more)

Honey Ryder described by OPI: Take a ryde on the wild side in this shimmery gold.

Honey Rider is a beautiful honey gold and the formula is great. I used two coats for a solid gold coverage. I would even wear it alone in one layer as a look of gold ‘frosted’ nails. I want to do a comparison post on Zoya Godiva vs. OPI Honey Rider. although, no dupe in any means, I would love to see them side by side.OPI Honey Rider

The dried time for both Vesper and Honey Rider are fast. I was able to handle every task within half hour.
OPI Vesper and Honey Rider

Honey Rider was so opaque that I attempted a little nail art. Not the best design but who knew a novelty polish can work so well as a nail art color.

Hard Candy Crush on Lava

Crush on Lava is part of the Hard Candy Crush Chrome Collection. It is BEAUTIFUL!Hard Candy Crush on Lava

Crush on Lava is made out of duo chrome flakie suspended in brown jelly. Although sheer, the dense flakies covered the nail bed in two coats. The finish was a bit dull for my taste so I added one coat of HK Girl Topcoat.
Hard Candy Crush on Lava

The color shift is AMAZING! I can see burgundy, copper, yellow, mossy green, and antique gold. My nails looks like a car with fancy paint job!
Hard Candy Crush on Lava

The formula was great and fast drying. It laid down smooth and even. Crush on Lava is the only Hard Candy Crushed Chrome that I purchased through WalMart.com. Maybe, I should order a few more but from the swatches, this is the only one with this much color shift.

The Harbinger

Darling Diva The Harbinger is a part of the Battlestar Galactica collection, however, I bought it from a blog sale BN.
Darling Diva Polish The Harbinger

The Harbinger is a clear glitter topcoat with holographic medium hex glitters, medium red hex glitters, and some fine gold.
Darling Diva Polish The Harbinger

The base jelly is a bit on the thin side so it took some fishing around to get the glitters to go on the brush. I used two coats over Zoya Shay. I added a coat of HK Girl topcoat.
Darling Diva Polish The Harbinger

I do like this glitter topcoat, very delicate and lacy with a bit of sparkle and color.

Godiva, the Champagne Pixie

Godiva is a champagne color gold color, if one of these suppose to be neutral, this would be the one. This is going to be a long review, as I am going to show you the difference between one, two, three coats, and with under color and without.
Zoya Godiva

Here it is shown one coat of Godiva over two coats of Zoya Minka.
Zoya Godiva

Godiva is sand and silver particles in clear suspension base. The formula went on smooth and dries very fast.Zoya Godiva

I actually really like the look of one coat of Godiva without any underware. It really gives nice faint sparkle to you nails as if my nails is under a draped veil.Zoya Godiva

In this picture, my thumb, middle finger and pinkie are wearing Minka as underware. The index finger and the ring finger have three coats of Godiva and no underware. I could see a bit of difference between the them.Zoya Godiva

Under bright indoor lighting, I cannot distinguish between them.
Zoya Godiva

After this little experiment, I prefer the look of PixieDust without underware because the manicure takes on an ethereal look.

Magically Delicious

I have been saving Girly Bits Magically Delicious for Saint Patrick’s day since last Xmas. Finally, I am wearing it and it is perfect for this green and gold day.
Girly Bits Magically Delicious

Magically Delicious is made of large square gold glitter which curled taco quite a bit, medium sized gold hex glitter, and a lot of green micro glitter that flashes a bit blue, if not, holographic.
Girly Bits Magically Delicious

I am wearing one coat over Zoya Vespa which I think really adds to the sparkle factor. I do have to note that I had to push the large square around with a tooth pick. I also used a thick topcoat to even out the rough glitter finish.

Leprechaun Gold Tips

Note: Read up on some new blogging rules, here is my disclosure… I PURCHASED  ALL THE ITEMS FEATURED ON MY BLOG, nothing is given to me for free.

How can go without a little leprechaun gold for Saint Patrick’s Day? Even though, Nfu-oh flakie/jelly is like an armor that protects your manicure like no other, I decided to add gold french tips to this manicure on day three.

Golden French Tips

I used Orly Luxe, my go-to one-coat gold foil. If you don’t own one, you need to get one. It is great for french tips, stamping, and freehand nail art.Golden French Tips

This isn’t Wizardry. It’s Liquid Sand.

Another polish from Oz the Great and Powerful themed polish collection from OPI. What is this Wizardry has the appearance of duo chrome effect. The color shifts from black to gold. To me, this is so much more interesting than the Liquid Sand from Mariah Carry Collection.

OPI What wizardry is this?

What is this Wizardry is a mix of fine black and antique gold particles (sand) in a blacken base so depending on angle, sometime it looks black and some times it looks antique gold. Personally, I think this is a very sophisticated finish and color.
OPI What wizardry is this?

The texture of What is this Wizardry seems to be a little finer than the Liquid Sand from Mariah Carry Collection. Here is a close up photo and it doesn’t seem as rough.
OPI What wizardry is this?

The formula is good and applied evenly. Here you see two coats over bare nails and no topcoat. I don’t do topcoat over texture polish because I feel it defeats the purpose. At two coats, there is a bit of ‘transparency’ to the manicure, and if you going for a darker more solid loo, I think three coats are needed or you can use black as a base color.
OPI What wizardry is this?

I am glad I have a full size bottle of What is this Wizardry because I can see myself wearing this a lot more the other OPI Liquid Sands.

Oy, Not Another Polish Swatch Review

Day two wearing I Saw… U Saw… We Saw… Warsaw, I do love this dark vampy navy blue. To jazz it up, I used OPI Oy, Another Polish Joke! and some black rhinestones for a formal look. My husband said, ‘that looks like tuxedo.’
OPI Oy, Another Polish Joke!

OPI Oy, Another Polish Joke! is a clear base with heavy yellow gold shimmer so in another word, it’s sheer. From other reviews, it takes about three to four coats to get decent opacity so I just use it as a layering polish. The formula is thin but not runny and it holds good amount of the shimmer. Here it is two coats over OPI I Saw… U Saw… We Saw… Warsaw. The gold shimmer is super sparkly… sigh…
OPI Oy, Another Polish Joke

I hope you enjoyed this ‘oy, not another polish swatch review’ nail art :-)

Happy Chinese New Year!

Today is Chinese Lunar New Year Eve. It is fair well to the year of the dragon and hello to the year of the snake. For good luck, I am wearing RED and GOLD.
Chinese New Year 2013

I used Zoya Guilty over OPI Danke Shiny Red.
